Position Summary

The Information Technology (IT) Systems Engineer works under the direct supervision of the IT Director and is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the credit union's IT infrastructure. This role involves working on the integration of new technologies, optimizing system performance, and ensuring the overall stability and security of the credit union's IT environment. The IT Systems Engineer plays a vital role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the credit union's technology systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage the credit union's IT infrastructure to meet business requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and network technologies to enhance system capabilities.
  • Implement virtualization and cloud technologies for efficient resource utilization.
  • Design, implement, and maintain the credit union's network architecture, including LANs, WANs, and VPNs.
  • Optimize network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect the credit union's network infrastructure.
  • Monitor system logs for security incidents and take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
  • Stay updated on the latest security threats and technologies to proactively address potential vulnerabilities.
  • Assist in audits and examinations related to IT security and compliance.
  • Serve as the Disaster Recovery Team Technical Lead.
  • Perform routine system backups and implement disaster recovery procedures.
  • Conduct security assessments and recommend improvements to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, procedures, and network architecture.
  • Manage and lead IT projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate and implement new technologies and solutions.
  • Serve TTCU members and co-workers pleasantly and professionally in accordance with TTCU core values of Trust, Respect, Excellence, Kindness, and Stewardship.
  • Preserves the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of company data, and information systems and services by testing and executing disaster recovery and business continuity plans, procedures, systems, and processes under the direction of the IT Director.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by engaging in relevant continuing education opportunities, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in IT networking groups.
  • Maintains documentation of reported issues and resolutions via company ticketing system.
  • Provides excellent customer service for users, members, and management both in person and during remote support situations.
  • Exercises independent judgment, initiative, and attention to detail as well as the ability to function well in a rapidly changing environment with little direct supervision.

  • On call as necessary with a 10% travel requirement.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role.
  • Industry certifications are preferred (ie. CompTIA Security+, CCSP, etc.).
  • Proven experience as an IT Systems Engineer, preferably in a financial institution or credit union setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of network architecture, server administration, security engineering, and IT best practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) and automation tools.
  • Experience with Azure cloud, virtual infrastructures, and backup and data recovery solutions.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid license are mandatory as there will be occasional travel to remote sites to provide support.
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs and is comfortable sitting or standing for long periods if necessary.
